Here’s a great story for you!
A group of scientists, having discovered the secrets of cloning, decided they would have a conference with God. The purpose was to tell God He was no longer needed. Yes, God had created humanity and all of life, in fact, from the very dust of the earth. But now science had taken over the job, and God could retire.
God said, “Explain this to me.”
They said, “We now know how to make life out of dust ourselves.”
God said, “Well then, okay, you go ahead and show me how you can do that.”
So they reached down for some dirt, and God said, “Uh, uh, uh, get your own dirt!”
I love that story because it just reminds us we get confused at times. We can act and think things really belong to us, even our life itself. We begin to forget at times how precious the gift is of our daily life. And sometimes think we have control over everything,. The truth is that every breath we take, every moment we live, is a gift from the Creator. He is the one who made us. You were formed with intention. You are designed with purpose, and created to live in a relationship with the one who holds the universe in His hands.
We Need To Remember God’s Blessing
In everything we call ours, even our children, our spouses, our friends—they’re gifts on loan from God. Every blessing we experience is from Him, the source of all good things. How precious it is to have these gifts in our lives this day; to have eyes to see and ears to hear. This day is a gift, and it all belongs to the one who gives us life. When we remember that, we are filled with gratitude, and we live each day with a renewed sense of awe and reverence for the Creator.
This was never more relevant than during covid when my Dad, diagnosed with dementia, went to his heavenly home after just turning 75 years old. I have navigated my fair share of grief and sorrow, but losing my Dad deepened the reservoir of resilience and heightened the depth of gratitude. Memories flooded my soul and leaked out my eyes more times than I could count. The blessing of each new day, every sunrise and sunset, caused my heart to cherish even more this one precious life I have been given. Today, let’s walk around in appreciation that we get to walk in the abundance of the gift of this life, knowing that every step we take is a reminder of God’s amazing love and provision.
