Each of us holds the incredible power to shape our lives through our thoughts. Proverbs 23:7 reveals, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” We can allow our minds to entertain ideas that hinder our dreams, or we can choose to cultivate thoughts that nurture and support them. By intentionally directing our thinking, we take an essential step toward creating a life we genuinely love.
Step 1: Release Condition-Based Thinking
Condition-based thinking focuses on the limitations or undesirable circumstances in our lives. This mindset often keeps us stuck. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
For example, if you’re striving to improve your health and find yourself fixating on not eating unhealthy foods, like pizza, those foods may dominate your thoughts. The result? Cravings intensify, and it becomes even harder to resist.
Step 2: Align Your Dreams with Your Purpose and Core Values
It is essential that the dream or goal we put our energy into aligns with our purpose and core values. Geoffrey Avert said it well: “The most important thing about having a goal is having one.”
The same goes for your dream. You must first establish your dream and confirm that this dream aligns with your true self before it can manifest into reality.
Here are five questions to help determine if your dream is the right fit:
- Do you feel passion for your dream? When you’ve chosen the right dream, you will feel emotionally connected to it. Thinking about your dream will give you an expanded sense of aliveness.
- Does the dream align with your core values? Your dream must align with your core values for it to manifest. If your dream is in conflict with your values, it is not worthy of you.
- Does your dream cause you to grow? Dreams should stretch and challenge you, encouraging personal and spiritual growth.
- Do you need help from a Higher Power? If you know all the steps to bring your dream to fruition, it’s not a big enough dream. As Ephesians 3:20 reminds us, God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”
- Is there good in your dream for others? The Universe—and God—is always seeking expansion. A dream aligned with your true self will naturally include good for others.
Your mind may host a myriad of wishes, but you need to distinguish your deepest desire and dream from whims and passing fancies. You are endowed with the power to choose the dream closest to your heart. You are never stuck. Never! You have the power to choose. You can choose to leave a toxic environment, relationship, or dead-end job. And only you can decide there is more for your life than limiting conditions or circumstances. Decide today to partner with the Divine to create a life you really love living. By co-creating with God, you can embark on a path that will manifest dreams deep inside you.
Invitation to Step Forward
Take time to reflect on your dreams and ensure they align with your divine purpose. Remember, you are not alone. And Psalm 37:4 promises, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
